Anyone else find themselves scrolling aimlessly on Instagram admiring these impeccable tone legs that seem unattainable? Or maybe you think to yourself that I will never go anywhere that warrants a slip THAT high?!?! Well, you may be right. I can tell you right now that I myself will not be wearing a slit high enough that I have to hold the two pieces of fabric together for the entire duration that I am wearing it. I will most definitely wear this trend, but not to the extent where the slip goes all the way up to the top of my hip bone.
Slits are all the rage for Spring and Summer 2018. Front slits to be more specific. Slits in skirts, maxi, swimsuit cover ups are EVERYWHERE. If you follow me on Instagram, I have already dove leg deep into this trend a few times. 😉
A slit is very flattering on all body types. It has a way of breaking up your right and left side to appear more tone and the slit of course provides length to those with shorter stature and more height to us taller individuals. It also allows the fabric to lay nicely on your legs providing this kind of form fitting look that doesn’t appear to scandalous.
Now if you still have this burning picture of a super model with a high slit in your head –GET IT OUT NOW– There are different lengths of slits that multiple brands offer across apparel that is for EVERYONE. For those of you that may need a bit of a adjustment period to fully commit to this trend or maybe you are looking to purchase this trend, but need it to be a bit more professional; I GOT YOU. I’ve linked so many options that you can look through to see what you’re most comfortable with.
For those dipping your toes into this trend, I would suggest you start with a maxi skirt or maxi dress that only has one slit and the slit ends at the top of your knee cap. For those who are leg deep in this trend, I challenge you to look into rocking two slit for both your right and left leg.
The dress I am wearing in this blog post provides the perfect length for running errands, Summer BBQs, beach vacations, happy hour, ect. I found this dress at Urban Outfitters and provides a slit that is not too outrageous that I can’t wear it around family and to multiple functions. I can unbutton the bottom buttons if I am feeling a little more frisky to make the slit higher. It’s completely lined, which I LOVE because I hate wearing slits. Who wants to wear another layer in the Summer? NOT ME! Lastly, I can dress it up or dress it down, which is why I love this dress. You know this girl loves versatility! At the time I published this post, all three color options were fully stocked in all sizes. BUDGET FRIENDLY AT $79 🙂
Striped Top: ZARA
Not into the off the shoulder trend, but want to dip your toes into something just as flirtatious? The square neckline trend may be the one for you! I love this trend, because it is for every body type AND there are different variations based on how much skin you want to show. You can wear a very deep square neckline top that is similar to a tank top OR have the square neckline hit just above your collarbones for a more conservative look. Speaking of tank tops this square neckline trend can be seen with spaghetti straps (loving thick spaghetti straps) or with sleeves.
Personally, I love showing off my collarbones. I think it is my favorite feature and gives the illusion that my chubby cheeks are not that chubby. This might not actually be the case, but in my head, it works!
This trend can be worn for all age groups due to it’s versatility and can be worn for casual or work-wear attire. Pair this look with other trends like polka dot prints, gingham, stripes, puff sleeves to achieve this effortless chic look.
I found this top while searching online at Zara and instantly put it in my cart. I think that the neckline of this blouse is perfect for my body type and allows me to show off a little bit of that collarbone that I love so much. The mix of horizontal and vertical line design g is so forgiving and not too overwhelming. I am also obsessed with these statement sleeves. They bring a instant uplift to this blouse without being too dramatic. The button detailing on the back is to die. It has three over-sized buttons that pull this flirtatious look together. Lastly, the fabric is linen and is so light and airy, but not too light wear you feel like your wearing nothing. Although, sometimes, that is something that I go for! LOL
Did I mention this top is only $40?!?!?! The perfect piece that will transition with you through different seasons. I paired this top with my new favorite Madewell denim jean, which are easily the most comfortable jean, I HAVE EVER HAD. They are a little pricey, but are a lifelong partnership! Pair this look with a statement earring like this Loft earrings, with fashion sneaks, flip flips or slides, and you have the perfect summer look.

Are you more of guacamole or salsa kind of gal? For me, I love guac.. guac with mango is even better. You can find my favorite guac recipe here.
Did you know when I went to Cabo, I found out that they don’t have chip and guac? I can’t even explain the facial expression of confusion when my friend and I asked for such thing.
I am obsessed over Cinco de Mayo not only because I love Mexican food and margaritas, but because it gives me an excuse to dress to a theme. Normally, I don’t go anywhere fancy or an event that warrants a fabulous colorful maxi dress like this one: (insert link) BUT, I do try to make do with what I have to honor all holidays. This Saturday, I will probably spend my day at the gym and cooking my husband a Mexican fiesta (margs included), therefore, I keep my outfits pretty simple. However, if you are going to an event or spending your day out on the town, I’ve linked a few outfits to either purchase yourself or provide a little inspiration for you.
I found these shorts during the Friends and Family Loft sale two weeks ago. The detailing on these shorts is so fun and am obsessed with the fit. The vertical lines are ridiculously flattering and gives the allusion that I didn’t skip out on the gym for the past week and a half. WHOOPS!
Since these shorts have a lot going on, I decided to pair these shorts with a plain quarter length off the shoulder white blouse that I got from South Moon Under a couple of years ago. I’ve been all about recycling old clothes in my closet recently and bring out my closest staples that I can wear for years!
You cannot forget about these red Steve Madden Shoes. The pop of color matches perfectly with the embroidery in my Loft shorts and goes well with the color vibes of Cinco de Mayo.
For the first time in months I am wearing earrings! I found my earrings at Loft as well. They are the cutest neutral color that brings balance to this outfit. It is so me to be not too overwhelming with my accessories. 🙂

I am currently listening to the sounds of pouring rain and country music with some hot tea. All I am missing is a fireplace. I instantly get a mood uplift when the vibe is just right. Anyone else like that or am I the only crazy one?
I am obsessed with wearing white. White jeans, shirts, dresses, and white shoes. I have never followed the “white only after memorial day rule” and I think it is super lame to be honest. I am all for winter whites, fall white, and spring whites and anything in between. I think it is so feminine and chic to wear white all year around. A simple white blouse with subtle detailing can go so far. The only thing I stress about is how pale I get. With my Irish skin, I can blend in to my white wall and become Casper. No one wants that. Speaking of, does anyone have any self tanner recommendations? I would love to try a few!
This white dress I am wearing is For Love & Lemons from Revolve. This dress has such sentimental value to me because I wore it for our engagement photos. I haven’t put it on since and thought I would break it out again. Our engagement pictures were in the Fall, so I paired with brown booties for that occasion. In this picture, I decided to pair with my favorite white espadrilles sneakers and a jean jacket. This jean jacket has been in heavy rotation the past couple of weeks as the weather has been crazy! One of these days I won’t need it.
The detailing on this dress is insane. I love the cut outs and lace detailing. The bell sleeves give me heart flutters every time I set my eyes on this dress in my closet. The lace hem gives this dress the best feminine look and goes well with this PJ trend. This outfit is perfect for a winery, date night, graduation, and summer parties.
Unfortunately, I cannot find this dress anywhere, but have linked a few of my favorite white dress options for you!
My days have been jammed back with work these past few weeks! Trying to balance work, my home life, and consistently posting on here is tough! I have to admit that my clothes are currently staked up to my neck, my house is a wreck, and I have little to no food to eat in the fridge. Hopefully, I can get some stuff done this evening and am not distracted with American Idol. Thank god it’s not on tonight! 🙂
Nick and I had a little getaway to the mountains of White Sulpher Springs, W.Va. I had a work event for some of it, but got to enjoy and unwind a bit too 🙂 If you saw my insta stories, the hotel was FAB. It’s called The Greenbrier. It’s famous for it’s eccentric decor, PGA golf course, and the now unclassified bunker that would of housed congress in the event of a missile attack on Washington D.C. The decor was AMAZING, but I felt like I was on sensory overload the entire time. We ate well and need to get back into the gym because I feel so unhealthy. 😦 Too much wine and food. On our way back we drove through the Virginia Safari Park, which was SO FUN. If you are driving through, you have to go. You can feed cows, goats, deer, llamas, giraffes, ect. Mostly from your car! I don’t think I stopped smiling and laughing the entire time I was there.
The weather was beautiful during the daytime yesterday and got to work a bit from home. My new patio furniture was delivered so I moved my work space to the deck to soak up some rays! After work we decided to take a few outfit pictures. For some reason every time my husband is available to shoot looks for me it is SO windy. Yesterday evening was no different. As soon as we were ready to go the clouds came in and the wind started to soar. One of these days I won’t have to manage all these factors to take some pictures for you guys. When we were done, we walked Bo and the wind completely stopped. Figures!
I wore this dress to a baby shower for a friend I had a couple of weeks ago. This dress is so affordable at $48 without a discount code. If you signed up for emails, I get discount codes almost everyday. I am loving polka dots lately and high slits. I am hoping it will keep me motivated to go to the gym. LOL This dress is true to size and so comfortable. It is very flattering and has an open back as well! I can wear this dress to a wedding, graduation, Kentucky Derby.. I mean the list goes on and on! It has the cutest buttons in the back as well. I love the short sleeve look as it makes it look a bit more conservative. Since this dress is selling out super fast (only large left the last time I checked), I’ve linked a few other dresses from Forever 21 that are on trend and super affordable. Which one is your favorite?
I am obsessing over the dresses at Free People. Anyone else?!?! Usually, I feel like during this time of year FP dresses show way too much skin for my liking, but they have done it right this season! In today’s post I’ve linked my favorite FP dresses. I do get commission for clicks and purchases, however, the reviews are my own.
Yesterday was the perfect afternoon. We hit golden hour with this cute little number. The Free People dress I am wearing is perfect for a Spring to Summer look. The eyelets and floral detailing are to die for. I love the subtle ripple look as it comes off as a casual and can easily transition from day to night. The best part? It comes with a romper to wear underneath. The romper is low back and so adorable. I’m so guilty of wearing it to bed a few times! This dress is true to size. At first, I thought it was too big, but I think if I sized down, I wouldn’t of been able to twirl like I was when we were taking these pictures. I also think that the length would of been too short. What do you think of my dress?
Yes, Free People is a bit on the pricey side, however, you can wear these dresses for YEARS to come. The material is long lasting—not one wash and you have to throw that piece of clothing in the trash. Is it bad that shopping motivates me to sell more during my day job? LOL
Did you know you can buy Free People at retailers like Nordstrom, Dillards & Revolve? When you’re shopping FP, make sure you look to see if these retailers are offering an extra discount.
These dresses are perfect for graduation, summer parties, BBQs, concerts, weddings, ect. I can go on and on and on. They also have age appropriate dresses. For example, I’m pushing 30 and probably not going to be throwing on a hoochie dress to go out to the club. I’m more of the I need to be comfortable and a LITTLE conservative. If I show off my legs like this dress, I’m normally covered up on top. Can’t be showing off too much now. 😉 Free People loves to show off leg and I’m not mad about it!
I have dresses below! Please make sure you snag up your FP dress for the Summer before they sell out. Items that are sold out completely will be removed from my link.
Happy Monday! This weather has been insane! It was so perfect this weekend with nothing but sunshine and warm weather, but today it’s been raining, cold, and so windy! My weather guy Doug (NBC 4 Washington) said it’s going to be cold and windy the remainder of the week so I thought what a great opportunity to give you some inspiration!
I have some awesome posts coming up this week because I was seriously lacking last week. Today, I’m talking all about layering pieces for Spring. I feel like this topic isn’t talked too much about and most people go straight into wearing mini dresses and showing a lot of skin. For me, I need an in between to showcase these pasty white legs and feet! I enjoy spending most of these days outside grilling out, spending the day at a brewery, and gathering over a fire. In these cases, I need another layer to throw on that I feel comfortable in and that looks cute. What are your favorite Spring activities?
I always ask myself a couple of questions when I’m picking out my OOTD. What about going from day to night? After the sun goes down it gets a bit chilly and what do you have to throw on? I tend to look at retail stores like J.Crew & Loft to get some inspiration. J.Crew has put out this lightweight wool blazer that is all the hearts eyes and the perfect layering piece. It also is great piece to bring an outfit together. It has the perfect quarter length sleeves that still gives it a Spring look. The over-sized pockets in the front are to die for. It’s also lightweight! It’s not too heavy where I’m sweating when it’s 80 degrees out. I love pairing this blazer classic white blouses or sweaters when it is a bit chilly. You can easily throw on a tank top under this blazer for those warmer days. Today, I decided to take it up a notch and throw on a denim button up in addition to my basic white blouse. This blazer comes in 4 different colors and is 20% off! I do recommend sizing down.
I’ve picked out a few other pieces that are the perfect layering pieces for Spring. Which are your favorites?
It was freezing & cloudy with a chance of flurries this weekend but this did not stop me from wearing my floral blouse! My BEST girlfriends and I went out to a winery to celebrate birthdays and much needed girl time. I thought this would be the most appropriate time to rock a little spring trend, but dress appropriately for the weather. We went to a winery called Quattro Goombas in Aldie, Virginia. Did you know Goomba means good friends from the old country? This is the definition of my friendship with my girlfriends and I!! We have been friends since middle school and now pushing 30! It has been so amazing watching everyone grow into their adult lives, have babies, get married, and become successful within their careers.
Florals can be a bit overwhelming design in some pieces and can easily become a distraction. I try and find pieces that are versatile in which I can wear on the weekend and to work, subtle, and provides details that reflects my personality and fashion identity. This blouse checks all the boxes. It is long sleeve, lightweight, and has strings where I can form a bow or tie in the front. I also adore the ruffle detailing in the front as well. The best part, this blouse is also made as a dress as well! Since the weather was being a pain, I paired with my TopShop leather jacket and Sam Edelman booties that I cannot wait to put in storage. Don’t get me wrong, the booties are perfect, but completely worn out from wearing them so much this Winter!

I hope everyone is recovering from Easter Weekend. If you’re like me, you’re starting to receive a ton of wedding invitations in the mail. This has inspired me to share my wedding guest dress guide. I love shopping for dresses for special events. To be honest, any chance I get to dress up immediately puts me in a better mood. There is something about changing up your daily wardrobe and putting a little bit more make-up on and curling your hair that is an instant mood booster. Everyone wants to look their best at a wedding, but still be comfortable, be able to DANCE, and not upstage the bride.
There are so many different styles that guest can wear and it can be overwhelming for some. You can stick with a traditional sleeveless business dress, but I always take this opportunity to branch out and show my style. Why not do something different or out of your weekly norm? This is also a great opportunity to surprise your date or significant other as well. : )
I always try to follow the brides theme. You should be able to tell by their formal wedding invitation on the style of dress you should wear. For example, the color scheme should give you a hint of what the bridesmaids are wearing. I try and stay within the same color scheme, but I never wear the same exact color. As far as if it is a rustic, beach, or traditional wedding you should be able to tell by looking up the location. Black is always a color to fall back on and can be worn in any season. Wearing black does not mean that you do not wish the couple well. That is a tale of the past. DO NOT WEAR WHITE! I am always shocked when I find that people show up in a white dress. The only one at the wedding that wears white is the bride.
I hope you have a fabulous time at the wedding you’re attending this year! If you do not find anything in the links I provided, please feel free to reach out to me and I will find something for you! 🙂
Are you ready for Easter? I am hosting for the first time this year at our place and I am so excited about it! I have not planned one thing and do not have any decorations. ek! No stress though, because I am the queen of pulling things together last minute. Anyone else out there like that? My key is to block off time to plan where I go all in. I am not one of those people that do a little here, a little there. NOT FOR ME. For example, if I clean my house, I clean my entire house, not just one room. In the end, I end up spending way too much time on planning and end up over thinking EVERYTHING if I space things out.
Anyway, I’m sharing a favorite new trend of mine. A little spice on a traditional button up that goes from work wear to weekend to weekend wear flawlessly. The oversize bow tie in the front provides the perfect amount of feminine flare to a very traditional style. Sometimes, I need a little more than poka-dots or stripes. This top is very affordable at $28 dollars from the Who What Wear line at Target. I love the long sleeve and V neck. This shirt can be tucked in or untucked. I personally love the tucked in front (Is that the correct term? LOL) look on myself. If you have a straight frame, you can totally pull off the untucked look as well. This piece is very versatile and you can even play around with the sleeves as you can unbutton the cuff of the sleeve.
I paired this top with my favorite skinny jeans from J.Crew. They provide a perfect amount of stretch, but still feel like jeans. Of course, I wore my espadrilles from Vince Camuto. You will be seeing a lot them!
