Cinco de Mayo Outfit Inspiration

IMG_4386

Hey Ya’ll!

Are you more of guacamole or salsa kind of gal? For me, I love guac.. guac with mango is even better. You can find my favorite guac recipe here.

Did you know when I went to Cabo, I found out that they don’t have chip and guac? I can’t even explain the facial expression of confusion when my friend and I asked for such thing.

I am obsessed over Cinco de Mayo not only because I love Mexican food and margaritas, but because it gives me an excuse to dress to a theme. Normally, I don’t go anywhere fancy or an event that warrants a fabulous colorful maxi dress like this one: (insert link) BUT, I do try to make do with what I have to honor all holidays. This Saturday, I will probably spend my day at the gym and cooking my husband a Mexican fiesta (margs included), therefore, I keep my outfits pretty simple. However, if you are going to an event or spending your day out on the town, I’ve linked a few outfits to either purchase yourself or provide a little inspiration for you.

I found these shorts during the Friends and Family Loft sale two weeks ago. The detailing on these shorts is so fun and am obsessed with the fit. The vertical lines are ridiculously flattering and gives the allusion that I didn’t skip out on the gym for the past week and a half. WHOOPS!

Since these shorts have a lot going on, I decided to pair these shorts with a plain quarter length off the shoulder white blouse that I got from South Moon Under a couple of years ago. I’ve been all about recycling old clothes in my closet recently and bring out my closest staples that I can wear for years!

You cannot forget about these red Steve Madden Shoes. The pop of color matches perfectly with the embroidery in my Loft shorts and goes well with the color vibes of Cinco de Mayo.

For the first time in months I am wearing earrings! I found my earrings at Loft as well. They are the cutest neutral color that brings balance to this outfit. It is so me to be not too overwhelming with my accessories. 🙂

OBSESSING OVER FREE PEOPLE DRESSES

IMG_3450

Hi Dolls,

I am obsessing over the dresses at Free People. Anyone else?!?! Usually, I feel like during this time of year FP dresses show way too much skin for my liking, but they have done it right this season! In today’s post I’ve linked my favorite FP dresses. I do get commission for clicks and purchases, however, the reviews are my own.

Yesterday was the perfect afternoon. We hit golden hour with this cute little number. The Free People dress I am wearing is perfect for a Spring to Summer look.  The eyelets and floral detailing are to die for. I love the subtle ripple look as it comes off as a casual and can easily transition from day to night. The best part? It comes with a romper to wear underneath. The romper is low back and so adorable. I’m so guilty of wearing it to bed a few times! This dress is true to size. At first, I thought it was too big, but I think if I sized down, I wouldn’t of been able to twirl like I was when we were taking these pictures. I also think that the length would of been too short. What do you think of my dress?

Yes, Free People is a bit on the pricey side, however, you can wear these dresses for YEARS to come. The material is long lasting—not one wash and you have to throw that piece of clothing in the trash. Is it bad that shopping motivates me to sell more during my day job? LOL

Did you know you can buy Free People at retailers like Nordstrom, Dillards & Revolve? When you’re shopping FP, make sure you look to see if these retailers are offering an extra discount.

These dresses are perfect for graduation, summer parties, BBQs, concerts, weddings, ect. I can go on and on and on. They also have age appropriate dresses. For example, I’m pushing 30 and probably not going to be throwing on a hoochie dress to go out to the club. I’m more of the I need to be comfortable and a LITTLE conservative. If I show off my legs like this dress, I’m normally covered up on top. Can’t be showing off too much now. 😉 Free People loves to show off leg and I’m not mad about it!

I have dresses below! Please make sure you snag up your FP dress for the Summer before they sell out. Items that are sold out completely will be removed from my link.

Floral Blouses

4

Hi Dolls,

It was freezing & cloudy with a chance of flurries this weekend but this did not stop me from wearing my floral blouse! My BEST girlfriends and I went out to a winery to celebrate birthdays and much needed girl time. I thought this would be the most appropriate time to rock a little spring trend, but dress appropriately for the weather. We went to a winery called Quattro Goombas in Aldie, Virginia. Did you know Goomba means good friends from the old country? This is the definition of my friendship with my girlfriends and I!!  We have been friends since middle school and now pushing 30! It has been so amazing watching everyone grow into their adult lives, have babies, get married, and become successful within their careers.

Florals can be a bit overwhelming design in some pieces and can easily become a distraction. I try and find pieces that are versatile in which I can wear on the weekend and to work, subtle, and provides details that reflects my personality and fashion identity. This blouse checks all the boxes. It is long sleeve, lightweight, and has strings where I can form a bow or tie in the front. I also adore the ruffle detailing in the front as well. The best part, this blouse is also made as a dress as well! Since the weather was being a pain, I paired with my TopShop leather jacket and Sam Edelman booties that I cannot wait to put in storage. Don’t get me wrong, the booties are perfect, but completely worn out from wearing them so much this Winter!

Which piece is your favorite?

Front Tied Blouses and Dresses

Hi Ya’ll

Are you ready for Easter? I am hosting for the first time this year at our place and I am so excited about it! I have not planned one thing and do not have any decorations. ek! No stress though, because I am the queen of pulling things together last minute. Anyone else out there like that? My key is to block off time to plan where I go all in. I am not one of those people that do a little here, a little there. NOT FOR ME. For example, if I clean my house, I clean my entire house, not just one room. In the end, I end up spending way too much time on planning and end up over thinking EVERYTHING if I space things out.

IMG_2126

Anyway, I’m sharing a favorite new trend of mine. A little spice on a traditional button up that goes from work wear to weekend to weekend wear flawlessly. The oversize bow tie in the front provides the perfect amount of feminine flare to a very traditional style. Sometimes, I need a little more than poka-dots or stripes. This top is very affordable at $28 dollars from the Who What Wear line at Target. I love the long sleeve and V neck. This shirt can be tucked in or untucked. I personally love the tucked in front (Is that the correct term? LOL) look on myself. If you have a straight frame, you can totally pull off the untucked look as well. This piece is very versatile and you can even play around with the sleeves as you can unbutton the cuff of the sleeve.

I paired this top with my favorite skinny jeans from J.Crew. They provide a perfect amount of stretch, but still feel like jeans. Of course, I wore my espadrilles from Vince Camuto. You will be seeing a lot them!

Birthday Babe

This is a sponsored post and I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links. The reviews are my own and I would not promote anything I do not like.

My gift to you is my birthday wish list. My link below includes items only under $100.00. I need these in my closet.

The Straw Bag

Sliders with Frills

Knotted Top

Denim Skirt

Cozy Loungewear, duh

Straw bags were so OVERPRICED last year. It was ridiculous, so I did not take the plunge.  This year there are so many affordable options. You cannot go through Spring and Summer 2018 without one. You can wear them dressed up with a Spring or Summer dress or dress down with a basic white tee and light-washed denim. Here are a few of my favorites under $100.00

These sliders from Splendid are so cute and versatile. I think that is my favorite word, BTW. It easily upgrades a basic outfit while you run out the door because you’re running super late. Please, do not tell me I am the only one?

The knotted tops from J.O.A are chic and a staple in your closet! This is a brand new line for Nordstrom and they are selling out fast.

Denim skirt, okay 1990s. I love that this trend is back and I cannot wait to wear denim skirts again!! BRING ON THE WARMER WEATHER! Also, the price is on POINT.

…………..Who doesn’t want cute new loungewear?

ohh, that vertical stripe

TREND ALERT. Well, there are three and I’m wearing all of them because I cannot get enough! This is a sponsored post and I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links. The reviews are my own and I would not promote anything I do not like.

1. STRIPES. Horizontal & Vertical Stripes are back for Spring 2018. Vertical lines are so flattering if the fit is LOOSE. Not so much when the fit is tight. These House of Harlow pants are also very versatile. I can dress them up or down. The best part? These pants are apart of a set that I adore as well and will be on repeat. I’m sure you’ll see them again soon.

2. High-waisted wide leg pant. uh, yes please. For all you big bottom girls, this is the BEST trick to accentuate your figure. I love putting these pants in my work apparel rotation. For once, I feel like my ass isn’t busting out of my dress pants. These pants also make for a playful conversation with my husband. He calls me a grandma. LOL.. He also has no fashion sense 🙂

3. Nude. I have a love-hate relationship with this color. Why? because I’m already so pale. This shirt is the perfect find. It doesn’t wash me out and is an awesome layering piece. I love the high neck and long sleeves as well and the material is so soft.

Spring Transitions

GAH. My first blog post.. I’m excited, nervous, and have been anxiously waiting to finally get the courage to start blogging. I love fashion when it comes to staple pieces and wearing the newest trends. I thought this blog post would be appropriate since it is literally the hardest time of the year to decide on what the heck you are going to wear. Who is with me?!?!

It’s almost Spring, but it is still cold; maybe snowing for some of you. If you are one of the lucky fashionistas, it is warm and sunny and I envy you! Clothing stores are coming out with cute new spring clothes that are anxiously waiting to be worn in your closet. I get the itch every year to throw my hands up in the air and scream a big “f it, I’m wearing it anyway” to that spaghetti strap maxi. I recently took a trip to the west coast, which you can find here.

The weather was a sore in my behind. Not too warm, not too cold, raining, and cloudy. EK. I always resort to the same pieces in this situation:

jumpsuit

blazer

matching set

fashionable, but comfy shoe

I always pair my outfits with a leather jacket or blazer because honestly it makes me feel like a bad ass and who doesn’t want to feel that way?
