Floral Blouses

Hi Dolls,

It was freezing & cloudy with a chance of flurries this weekend but this did not stop me from wearing my floral blouse! My BEST girlfriends and I went out to a winery to celebrate birthdays and much needed girl time. I thought this would be the most appropriate time to rock a little spring trend, but dress appropriately for the weather. We went to a winery called Quattro Goombas in Aldie, Virginia. Did you know Goomba means good friends from the old country? This is the definition of my friendship with my girlfriends and I!!  We have been friends since middle school and now pushing 30! It has been so amazing watching everyone grow into their adult lives, have babies, get married, and become successful within their careers.

Florals can be a bit overwhelming design in some pieces and can easily become a distraction. I try and find pieces that are versatile in which I can wear on the weekend and to work, subtle, and provides details that reflects my personality and fashion identity. This blouse checks all the boxes. It is long sleeve, lightweight, and has strings where I can form a bow or tie in the front. I also adore the ruffle detailing in the front as well. The best part, this blouse is also made as a dress as well! Since the weather was being a pain, I paired with my TopShop leather jacket and Sam Edelman booties that I cannot wait to put in storage. Don’t get me wrong, the booties are perfect, but completely worn out from wearing them so much this Winter!

Which piece is your favorite?

Wedding Guest Dress Guide

Hi Ya’ll!

I hope everyone is recovering from Easter Weekend. If you’re like me, you’re starting to receive a ton of wedding invitations in the mail. This has inspired me to share my wedding guest dress guide. I love shopping for dresses for special events. To be honest, any chance I get to dress up immediately puts me in a better mood. There is something about changing up your daily wardrobe and putting a little bit more make-up on and curling your hair that is an instant mood booster. Everyone wants to look their best at a wedding, but still be comfortable, be able to DANCE, and not upstage the bride.

There are so many different styles that guest can wear and it can be overwhelming for some. You can stick with a traditional sleeveless business dress, but I always take this opportunity to branch out and show my style. Why not do something different or out of your weekly norm? This is also a great opportunity to surprise your date or significant other as well. : )

I always try to follow the brides theme. You should be able to tell by their formal wedding invitation on the style of dress you should wear. For example, the color scheme should give you a hint of what the bridesmaids are wearing. I try and stay within the same color scheme, but I never wear the same exact color. As far as if it is a rustic, beach, or traditional wedding you should be able to tell by looking up the location. Black is always a color to fall back on and can be worn in any season. Wearing black does not mean that you do not wish the couple well. That is a tale of the past. DO NOT WEAR WHITE! I am always shocked when I find that people show up in a white dress. The only one at the wedding that wears white is the bride.

I hope you have a fabulous time at the wedding you’re attending this year! If you do not find anything in the links I provided, please feel free to reach out to me and I will find something for you! 🙂

Front Tied Blouses and Dresses

Hi Ya’ll

Are you ready for Easter? I am hosting for the first time this year at our place and I am so excited about it! I have not planned one thing and do not have any decorations. ek! No stress though, because I am the queen of pulling things together last minute. Anyone else out there like that? My key is to block off time to plan where I go all in. I am not one of those people that do a little here, a little there. NOT FOR ME. For example, if I clean my house, I clean my entire house, not just one room. In the end, I end up spending way too much time on planning and end up over thinking EVERYTHING if I space things out.

Anyway, I’m sharing a favorite new trend of mine. A little spice on a traditional button up that goes from work wear to weekend to weekend wear flawlessly. The oversize bow tie in the front provides the perfect amount of feminine flare to a very traditional style. Sometimes, I need a little more than poka-dots or stripes. This top is very affordable at $28 dollars from the Who What Wear line at Target. I love the long sleeve and V neck. This shirt can be tucked in or untucked. I personally love the tucked in front (Is that the correct term? LOL) look on myself. If you have a straight frame, you can totally pull off the untucked look as well. This piece is very versatile and you can even play around with the sleeves as you can unbutton the cuff of the sleeve.

I paired this top with my favorite skinny jeans from J.Crew. They provide a perfect amount of stretch, but still feel like jeans. Of course, I wore my espadrilles from Vince Camuto. You will be seeing a lot them!

My Favorite Skin Care Products

Hey Ya’ll

This week has been so amazing and it’s only Tuesday. I have started to gain more subscribers on here and my Instagram. It means SO much to me that you take time out of your day to read my blog. 🙂 If you haven’t subscribed, you can on the right hand side of my homepage. My Instagram handle is @katie_dipillo. Please subscribe and follow because I have some awesome content coming out that you will not want to miss!

I started back in my fitness routine because summer is right around the corner! This time of the year is when I usually amp up my workouts to 4-5x/week. I love those endorphins and tone muscles 🙂 I currently follow @alexia_clark an am doing her workouts to keep me on track with a tight schedule. She is seriously my girl crush and I envy her. My husband will tell you I stay up at night and watch her Instagram stories. Not in a creepy way, but of a motivational and inspiring way.

I’ve had a couple people ask me how I keep my skin clear and I thought I would share my skin care regimen with you! I had clear skin throughout my entire childhood and teenage life. I know, so lucky, right?? Unfortunately, as an adult, I have cystic acne. I normally have breakouts when my hormones are off due to stress or lack of sleep. I would say I am pretty good at getting a good nights sleep and managing my stress, so my breakouts are few and far between. I also religiously wash my face, which is key. I wash my face when I wake up, before I go to sleep, after my workouts, as soon as I get home if I have makeup on. Seriously, any chance I get to have a clean face, I jump on it. I don’t use every product every time I wash my face. Click the name of the product for links.

Cetaphil Cleanser: Seriously, this is the best cleanser and you can get it at your local drugstore or on Amazon. It is also so affordable. My dermatologist recommended I use it years ago after many failed products. I have sensitive skin and this doesn’t cause redness, swelling, or any other inflammatory symptoms. It doesn’t leave any residue from my make up or the product itself on my skin. It makes my skin so smooth and fresh. In college I used to get white heads, but the cleanser alone did the trick!

Exfolikate: I use Exfolikate by Kate Somerville 3x/week. This has ingredients that will especially help oily or acne-prone skin: salicylic acid, honey (has antibacterial properties), and retinyl palmitate (vitamin A). It isn’t too harsh on my skin and is perfect at getting all the dead skin cells off my face. This product provides a clean palate for all of my moisturizers! The tube I use is very small and I use half of a penny size amount each time.

Klairs Toner: My skin eats this stuff up. I feel like my skin cannot get enough of this toner. It is moisturizing and provides pH balance. In the Winter, my skin can get very dry and irritated if I do not use this. You get an enormous amount of product as well. The consistency has some substance and has a very pleasant and faint floral smell.

Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Repair Serum: This helps repair sun damage that I have had in the past as well as scarring from my cystic acne. I am spot specific when applying this serum and around my eyes, top of my forehead, and along my smiling lines. This brightens my face and reduces my fine lines. I notice a difference when I choose to not use it.

Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer with SPF: Unlike most moisturizers, this doesn’t make my skin feel greasy. A little goes a long way and continues to make my skin feel airy and fresh. It is fragrance-free  and comes in a little pump bottle. Also provides SPF which I put on my face and neck daily.

Aczone Gel: This is prescribed by my dermatologist and you will need a prescription, but I use this when I do have a breakout. It dramatically lessens the swelling and provides proper and expiated healing to my breakout area. It is seriously magic.

Charlotte Tilbury Tinted Moisturizer:  Seriously, there is no need for BB cream or foundation when applying this product. It is pricey at $40, but it is honestly like a three- in-one product. Perfect for on the go individuals who do not have time or do not want to put makeup on. It provides one color that self-adjusts to your skin tone. It looks a little scary (as in orange) when you first put it on, but it subsides after 30 seconds and gives you an incredible dewy sun-kissed look.

That Easter Dress

Hi Ya’ll

I don’t know about you, but I feel like these weeks are flying by! Where did Winter go? I have been super busy with work, family, and getting this blog up and started I feel like March came and went overnight. We finally were blessed with some warmer weather and sunshine this weekend after our first snow storm of the winter. Funny how that works, right?

It was my 28th birthday this past week as well and my husband continues to remind me that I am now in my “late” 20s. He bought my favorite Cabernet from a winery that we went to in Napa. You can read all about it here. He also took me to a Greek restaurant to reminisce on our honeymoon we took in June 2017, which was too sweet. The Greek food was nothing of comparison, but it is the thought that counts. I spent the rest of the day buying anti-aging product.

I tried to take advantage of the Target BOGO sale, however, it was definitely a disappointment. If you saw my Instagram story, you have already heard my rant. The selection was horrible and the sizing is all over the place! The selection of dresses was also not that great. I felt like everything was designed for teenagers. That may be me channeling a grouchy old lady.  You know, since I’m now in my “late 20s.” They had very cute skirts, but of course nothing available in my size. I did find $20 high rise distressed shorts, which will be in rotation this summer, but I would advise trying them on in store. If you have assets of any kind, you’ll have to size up 2 sizes.

This dress that I am wearing here is from Target and the perfect Easter dress. It is on trend with a ruffle hem & sleeve, length appropriate, and this perfect shade of green. It also has this checkered detailing that is not too much in your face. I paired it with my go to Jeffery Campbell wedges that sold out, but I’ve linked a similar version below.

I’ve also listed a couple of other options  for your Easter weekend.

Birthday Babe

This is a sponsored post and I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links. The reviews are my own and I would not promote anything I do not like.

My gift to you is my birthday wish list. My link below includes items only under $100.00. I need these in my closet.

The Straw Bag

Sliders with Frills

Knotted Top

Denim Skirt

Cozy Loungewear, duh

Straw bags were so OVERPRICED last year. It was ridiculous, so I did not take the plunge.  This year there are so many affordable options. You cannot go through Spring and Summer 2018 without one. You can wear them dressed up with a Spring or Summer dress or dress down with a basic white tee and light-washed denim. Here are a few of my favorites under $100.00

These sliders from Splendid are so cute and versatile. I think that is my favorite word, BTW. It easily upgrades a basic outfit while you run out the door because you’re running super late. Please, do not tell me I am the only one?

The knotted tops from J.O.A are chic and a staple in your closet! This is a brand new line for Nordstrom and they are selling out fast.

Denim skirt, okay 1990s. I love that this trend is back and I cannot wait to wear denim skirts again!! BRING ON THE WARMER WEATHER! Also, the price is on POINT.

…………..Who doesn’t want cute new loungewear?

ohh, that vertical stripe

TREND ALERT. Well, there are three and I’m wearing all of them because I cannot get enough! This is a sponsored post and I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links. The reviews are my own and I would not promote anything I do not like.

1. STRIPES. Horizontal & Vertical Stripes are back for Spring 2018. Vertical lines are so flattering if the fit is LOOSE. Not so much when the fit is tight. These House of Harlow pants are also very versatile. I can dress them up or down. The best part? These pants are apart of a set that I adore as well and will be on repeat. I’m sure you’ll see them again soon.

2. High-waisted wide leg pant. uh, yes please. For all you big bottom girls, this is the BEST trick to accentuate your figure. I love putting these pants in my work apparel rotation. For once, I feel like my ass isn’t busting out of my dress pants. These pants also make for a playful conversation with my husband. He calls me a grandma. LOL.. He also has no fashion sense 🙂

3. Nude. I have a love-hate relationship with this color. Why? because I’m already so pale. This shirt is the perfect find. It doesn’t wash me out and is an awesome layering piece. I love the high neck and long sleeves as well and the material is so soft.
